Unnao incident will be put in fast-track court: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured that the Unnao rape case will be taken to a fast track court to serve justice to the perpetrators. He expressed grief over the survivor's death.

In a statement on Saturday, the UP CM said that the Unnao rape victim's death was extremely saddening and unfortunate. He added that all accused have been arrested the police.

Offering condolences to the family, the Chief Minister said the case will be taken to a fast-track court and be assured of a speedy trial.

The 23-year-old Unnao rape victim was airlifted to Delhi after she was set ablaze by five men, including two of her rapists. He was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital with 90 per cent burns. She succumbed to death on Friday night. The survivor battled for 40 hours in the hospital, post which she died of a cardiac arrest at 11.40 as per the hospital officials.

Her mortal remains were shifted to a forensic lab, where they will be undergo a post mortem. The body will then be handed over to her family.

The woman was set afire by five men, including two of her alleged rapists, on Thursday morning when she was going to Rae Bareli to attend a court hearing in the rape case filed by her.

She died on the day the four accused in the gang rape and murder case of a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad were killed in an 'encounter' with the Telangana police, triggering a tsunami of reactions across the spectrum -- ranging from appreciation to condemnation.
