Vishwa Hindu Mahasabha Leader Shot Dead In Lucknow
Lucknow: Vishwa Hindu Maha Sabha leader Ranjit Bachchan was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding assailants in the Hazratganj area of Lucknow on Sunday morning. Ranjit Bachchan was out on his morning walk along with his brother when two motorcycle-borne assailants pulled up and opened multiple rounds of fire shooting him in the head. While the Vishwa Hindu Maha Sabha leader succumbed to the gunfire, his brother sustained serious injuries in the incident.
UP Police teams rushed to the scene of a crime and have begun probing the incident. UP Police are hopeful of nabbing the assailants soon, according to media reports.
Last year, Kamlesh Tiwari, another leader of another Hindu group was shot dead in his Lucknow office. The UP police had come in for a lot of flak during that time. Two alleged killers of Tiwari were later nabbed by the Gujarat Police on the state's border with Rajasthan on October 22, 2019 and subsequently shifted to UP.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi party has called for the resignation of Yogi Adityanath government terming it as incompetent. In a tweet, the party said that the common people were terrorised by the incident:
