Well known anchor of Doordarshan Neelum Sharma passes away

As per reports, Neelum Sharma, one of the founding anchors of Doordarshan (DD) News and among its most recognisable faces, had passed away today (17 August). As she was suffering from cancer.

She was said to be a strong advocate for women empowerment, well known for her programmes like 'Tejaswini' and 'Badi Charcha' and she had also been awarded the Nari Shakti Puruskar by President Ram Nath Kovind in 2018.

In several media institutes she was a visiting faculty in and had won various prestigious awards like the Best News Anchor Award, Aadhi Aabadi Award and KPS Gill Fearless Journalist Award among others.
