Will inoculate 30 cr people in 6 months: Centre
New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday said that India will have the capacity to inoculate about 30 crore people with Covid-19 vaccine in six to seven months. He said the country's scientists and health experts have developed an indigenous vaccine.
"Our scientists and health experts have worked on the development of a vaccine by genome sequencing and isolation of the coronavirus and developed an indigenous vaccine. In 6-7 months, we will have the capacity to inoculate about 30 crore people," the Health Minister said.
Harsh Vardhan stressed that India has one of the highest Covid-19 recovery rates in the world at 95.46 per cent as over 95 lakh people have recovered from the disease so far. "There have been a little over one crore cases of Covid-19 in India. Of that, 95 lakh 50 thousand cases have recovered successfully. India has one of the highest recovery rates in the world at 95.46 per cent," he said.
With 25,152 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the total number of infected patients in the country has crossed the one crore mark. Nearly 10 lakh cases have been reported in nearly a month, while the total number of recoveries surged to 95.50 lakh, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
