Wuhan Evacuation: Deep Gratitude expressed by Maharashtrian Woman to Indian Embassy for saving her life
The Maharashtra-based woman who was trapped in coronavirus-affected Wuhan thanked the Indian Embassy and the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday after her plane landed safely in New Delhi.
"I feel grateful, it seems impossible to come home in such a circumstance. I'm sure my family would be relieved and happy. I'm grateful to the Embassy and the Indian Air Force for taking care of us," said Ashwini Patil, a resident of Maharashtra's Satara district.
"Because of my husband I lived in Wuhan. He has been a great moral support for me," she said. On Thursday morning, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 Globemaster III aircraft brought in 112 people including 76 Indians, 36 foreigners from China' coronavirus-affected Wuhan area.
One such was Ashwini Patil. In a tweet, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "On their return from Wuhan, the IAF flight brought back 76 Indians and 36 nationals from seven countries-Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, China, South Africa, USA and Madagascar.
The Chinese authorities have locked down Wuhan— China's deadly coronavirus epicentre— to try to stop the spread of the deadly new virus that has claimed more than 2,500 lives in Mainland China so far. It was a difficult take in the wake of the novel virus to seek permission to fly in and out and evacuate people, which hindered the evacuation process of Indians stuck in China.
