Yogi Adityanath commences campaigns at temples post 72-hour EC ban

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said under no circumstances he strives for votes in the name of caste or religion, after he recommenced his campaign after the 72-hour EC ban following his 'Bajrangbali' comment, on Friday.

Yogi said at a rally in Sambhal, "Remember the Congress government when then PM Manmohan Singh had said Muslims had the first right over the country's resources while Mayawati in a rally in Saharanpur asked Muslims to unite and vote for the BSP-SP alliance. I have never sought votes in the name of caste or religion."

The Kaila Devi temple chief priest Mahant Rishiraj Maharaj and his four mace wielding representatives who were settled alongside the CM on the stage acquainted him to the crowd. "Earlier governments used to discriminate, funds were given to graveyards and not to cremation grounds, electricity was supplied to Deva Sharif and not to Mahadeva, this was discrimination," Yogi said.

Yogi said administrations which practiced such discrimination are insulting democracy as he claimed that he took up development work in the state without any discrimination on the basis of religion unlike the previous governments.
