Indian origin man sentenced to 11 years jail in Singapore

Singapore: A Singapore court has sentenced an Indian origin man to 11 years imprisonment over theft and possession of drugs. V Viswanathan (50) was charged with theft at a Shell petrol station in Bukit Timah Road on July 31, 2017. At the same time, the police have found a packet of heroin powder from him.

Recently, this case has come to the hearing in the Singapore court. In the trial, Viswanathan has admitted the crime. With this, the court has sentenced him to 11 years and 5 months imprisonment.

According to the police, Viswanathan tried to rob a petrol station at Bukit Timah road by threatening the staff with the weapon. However, the staff caught him and informed to the police.

The police who arrested Viswanathan in the theft case, have found a heroin packet from him. The medical test also confirmed that he used drugs. In this context, he was charged with theft, possession of weapons, drug trafficking cases.

The case has come for the hearing on September 17, at the time Viswanathan tried to escape from the court. With this, he was again produced in the court on September 19, where the court sentenced him to 11 years and 5 months imprisonment.
