9-year-old Laurent Simons to become the world's youngest graduate

A nine-year-old boy who is half Belgian and half Dutch is all set to become the youngest ever graduate by the end of this year. In December the little genius will complete his degree in electrical engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE).

The world's top universities are looking forward to signing up Laurent Simons who has an IQ of at least 145. The genius boy completed his high school studies in 18 months when he was just eight years old.

Laurent, who lives in Amsterdam, said, "I really want to go to California, the weather is nice there."

But Laurent's father Alexander Simons shared that his son plans to get enrolled for a PhD program in electrical engineering and he also wants to pursue a degree in medicine.

Laurent's parents further revealed, "We don't want him to get too serious. He does whatever he likes. We need to find a balance between being a child and his talents."

Sjoerd Hulshof, Education Director of electrical engineering at TUE, said, "Laurent is the fastest student we have ever had here. Not only is he hyper-intelligent but also a very sympathetic boy."

Laurent's mother, Lydia, told that it was his grandparents who first noticed that he was special. "They noticed something very special about Laurent," she said.

Laurent Simons will be the World's Youngest Graduate from Michael Kearney next month with this achievement.
