The clip shows the astonishing moment when Keanon Lowe, school football coach took the gun from 18-year-old Angel Granados-Diaz that he sneaked in into his school. By hiding it under his trenchcoat, he got the gun inside the school.
In an interview with Koin 6, Lowe, who also works in the same school as a security guard, explained the whole incident. He said that he was called to the Fine Arts building to get a student, "I walk in there, I get to the classroom, I'm in the classroom for 15, 20 seconds - you know, I ask the teacher, 'Is the student here?'"
He further added, "The door opens - I'm within arm's length of the door, about 3 feet away from the door, and there's a kid with a gun, a shotgun. In a fraction of a second, I analysed everything really fast."
Lowe said, "I saw the look on his face, look in his eyes, looked at the gun, realised it was a real gun and then my instincts just took over. I lunged for the gun, put two hands on the gun. He had his two hands on the gun and obviously, the kids are running out of the classroom and screaming."
You can watch Lowe taking away the gun from Diaz and handing it to another teacher. Later to calm down Diaz, he wrapped him in a hug.
Finally, Lowe said, "I felt compassion for him; a lot of times, especially when you're young, you don't realise what you're doing until it's over."
No one was hurt in the incident, and Granados-Diaz pleaded guilty to the gun charges on October 10 and was handed 36-month probation.
