In her Indian Tour 2016, highly acclaimed French pop singer Juliette Katz performed many of her greatest songs such as "Tout le monde" (Everybody) or the heady "Pondicherry".
A wedding celebration was held simultaneously just outside Taj Deccan Hotel. However, the coincidence of the two events did not even slightly perturb Juliette Katz nor Benjamin, her musician, who continued their splendid show.
Alliance Française of Hyderabad made that concert possible and apart from that everything went smoothly thanks to the deeply involved personnel of the Alliance France of Hyderabad, who organized the whole event.
Juliette's much appreciated music concert gave her audience a perfect opportunity to discover Nirvana 'Come as you are' live cover.
Juliette Katz interview:
How flattered are you when being compared to British singer Adele?
Adele has a beautiful voice and I do look a bit like her. Now, how much we are alike I can’t tel, but I just think this is a funny association.
Tell us about your Indian tour, is it going well?
Very well, in Chennai the audience was very silent and respectful. In Bangalore, the crowd showed more fervour and danced a lot. Concert in Chandigarh left me some good memories as well.
Best concert?
Bangalore, great venue, great organization, around 300 hundred people gathered for my concert. It was an amazing experience.
Define your relationship with India as a French singer, musically and personally.
Both music and intimacy are associated to India; they simply cannot be detached from one another.
Ever since I was little I would travel to India and about three years ago I suggested to my musician friend to compose a song called “Pondicherry”, so with his assistance, we did it.
We’ve incorporated Indian music notes in it and then recorded it here in India. Listening to this song then made me feel very emotional.
What’s your favourite thing about India?
That might seem odd, but I’d say a form of liberty not to be found in France.
Would you consider singing in English, so you can be understood here in India?
I think Indians do get me anyway. I don’t feel like composing English songs at the moment though I do sing a couple of covers in English. It’s also a huge challenge for me to sing in French in India.
Would you like to work with an Indian artist?
Yes, of course, I’d love to. Many of my songs already include Indian voices, but yes, I’d definitely love to do that.
What about Hyderabad?
I like the city very much, its name as well.
Do you enjoy watching Bollywood or Tollywood pictures?
Of course, they are very entertaining pictures, as a comedian and a singer it is always very interesting to see how music and dance are so easily integrated. It’s a whole different, fascinating world for us French. It is totally different from the way pictures are made in France. But as a curious person, I’m attracted to the unknown.
