Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, Scientist and Director of CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad has been chosen to receive the ‘SASTRA-CNR Rao Award’ for the year 2017. The feat comes as a recognition to his far reaching and outstanding contributions in the field of Chemistry.

Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar, Scientist and Director of CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad has been chosen to receive the ‘SASTRA-CNR Rao Award’ for the year 2017. The feat comes as a recognition to his far reaching and outstanding contributions in the field of Chemistry.

The award is instituted to him for the work carried out in the areas of total synthesis of complex natural products, identification and use of PEG as an alternate to solvent and synthesis of unusual peptides and peptidomimetics.

Dr Chandrasekhar has also contributed in developing patent non-infringing, economically viable routes for drug molecules to help the Pharma industry. He is a recipient of prestigious awards that includes ‘Infosys Prize for Physical Sciences’, ‘CNR Rao National Prize’ and ‘CRSI Silver Medal’ among others.

He is a Fellow of all three Science Academies in India. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs and a citation. The Award will be presented on February 28, 2017 at SASTRA University in Thanjavur.
