A team of 70 Ham Radio operators headed by Arza Ramesh Babu, coordinator of Ham Radio Training Centre, has successfully accomplished the task of connecting all the important ghats and public places like bus stand and railway station in the just concluded Krishna Pushkaralu.

Ham Radio control station was operated from the Central Command and Control Centre round-the-clock during the 12-day river festival. Ham Radio stations were also set up at various ghats and other important places in the city and integrated with the Central Command and Control Centre.

Ham Radio operators used their own advanced equipment like the all mode communication device which is capable of functioning in multi modes like HF, VHF and UHF, for the purpose. Ham Radio experts interlinked the repeater on the hill top of Gunadala with the Internet using eco link technology thus extending communication system to the global range to make it accessible to all Hams in Vijayawada.

They can access the repeater even with a walkie-talkie. The global communication facility can be used by Hams from any corner of the city with a small handset which costs less than an ordinary mobile phone.

The messages transmitted by Ham Radio operators from time to time on ground situation at Pushkar Ghats and other public places to the authorities concerned at the Central Command and Control Centre, helped ensure the smooth conduct of the river festival. The services of Ham Radio operators were well appreciated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
