Government promises additional marks for extraordinary sports persons
Krishna University Intercollegiate (KRUIC) athletics championship began at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city on Wednesday.
Krishna University Intercollegiate (KRUIC) athletics championship began at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city on Wednesday. Krishna University Vice-chancellor Prof S Rama Krishna Rao inaugurated the two day meet. Vikas College of Physical Education (Nunna) is conducting the meet.
Nearly 250 athletes have been attending the two day athletics meet from 20 Degree Colleges in the district. Speaking on the occasion the Vice-chancellor said that the state government decided to give additional marks for outstanding sportspersons. Those who participated in the National and International level events, will be eligible, he said.
The government constituted a committee especially for this purpose, he said. The committee would give its recommendations very soon, he added. The adding of marks to sportsmen would be implemented either by academic years 2016-17 or 2017-18, he said.
The VC further informed to University Sports Board to identify the eligible Physical Directors(PD).Opportunities are promised on a contract bases at institutions without a PD. The university encourages sports and games in all colleges and also gives financial aid, he assured.
Krishna University will be conducting the All India Inter University Archery Championship at Machilipatnam in the month of February, he announced. He requested for the colleges to participate in every discipline which will be helpful for the students’ career.
District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) Md Sirajuddin, Athletics Federation of India Technical Committee member Raja Velu A, Sports Authority of India (SAI) athletic coach DNV Vinayak Prasad, Vikas Educational Institutions Chairman Naredla Narsi Reddy, Krishna University Sports Board Secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao, Vikas college principal S Raju, Physical Directors Uday Kumar and Raghavaiah were participated in the programme.
