Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) and Vibri Media Private Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for conducting AP Sports League (APSL) with the support of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) in the month of April.
Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association (APOA) and Vibri Media Private Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for conducting AP Sports League (APSL) with the support of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) in the month of April. APOA has taken the initiative to develop sports and games starting from village and going to mandal, constituency and district level in its urgent executive committee meeting held at in a hotel in the city on Friday.
The APOA General Secretary RK Purushotham and Vibri media private limited representative Vishnu had transferred the agreement papers. The aim of the APSL is to develop sports and games in the state and produce International players. After completion of the meeting APOA Vice-president Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram spoke to media persons about the new scheme APSL.
He said that for the first year, eight games have been selected for conducting the Sports League. APSL guidelines would be announced by end of February and rules and regulations will be framed, he said. Assembly Constituency level teams would be selected in all eight sport disciplines like Volleyball, Kabaddi, Badminton, Athletics, Hockey, Weight Lifting, Cricket and Football, he added.
In first spell the APOA would be issued bidding to select the sponsors and later constituency level teams would be selected with the help of concerned game district association, he said. Then inter constituency level competitions would conduct at district head quarters and select district teams for state level competitions, he added.
Pattabhi Ram further said that the state level tournament would be conducted at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city. The entire tournament would be conducted with World Class standards and the APOA would give top priority to talented players, he adds.
Regarding Assembly Constituency teams he said that Cine hero Rana has come forward to take Bapatla team and cine actress Manchu Lakshmi would take Tirupathi team. He made it clear that highest bidder would be given top priority and they should take total responsibility of the teams.
APOA general secretary RK Purushotham said that Andhra Pradesh definitely conduct National Games in 2018 and a cheque of Rs 4.50 crore would be sent to Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for the bid price. Earlier, the cheque was sent to IOA directly by the state government, but as per rules APOA should pay the bid amount directly, he said.
Though the National Games were awarded to Goa and Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh would conduct games with the support of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he added. While conducting National Games the state government envisages to make International standards sports facilities at all important cities, he added.
Vibris Media Private Limited representative Vishnu said that his company had vast experience in conducting cine actor’s cricket, several sports leagues and important government programmes. About 7,000 players would take part in APSL tournament, he said. Inaugural functions, cultural and other activities will be conducted before the commencement of the tournaments, he added.
APOA vice-presidents A Ramana Rao, SM Sulthan, treasurer K Padmanabham, Ahtletica Association state secretary AV Raghavendra, Weight Lifting Association secretary Badetii Venkta Ramaiah, Krishna District Olympic Association (KDOA) secretary A Pandu Ranga Rao, SAAP Assistant Director SV Rmana and others participated.
