Machilipatnam all set for All India Inter University Championship
Krishna district’s head quarter, Machilipatnam is ready to host the All India Inter University Archery Championship for Men and Women at Hindu College grounds from February 15 to 19. Over 1,000 archers from 95 universities across the country are to take part in the prestigious national championships.

For the first time Krishna University is conducting an All India Inter University Championship and have made elaborate arrangements for the five-day event. Minister for Human Resources Department (HRD) Ganta Srinivasa Rao will inaugurate the Archery Championship at Hindu College Today.
National and International archers will participate in the five-day tournament. Andhra Pradesh Archery Association (APAA) is giving technical support to Krishna University. Krishna University Vice-chancellor Prof S Rama Krishna Rao inspected the arrangements at the Hindu College grounds on Tuesday.
Krishna University has also made dormitory arrangements for various university teams and players who have completed their practice session. International archers A Ravali, Haritha, EGN Deepu, Naveen Kumar and others will add colour to the mega sporting event. Andhra Pradesh Archery Association has provided all the material like targets, stands and umbrellas for the convenience of Archers which have been imported from West Bengal.
APAA has conducted training technical course to the students of Vikas College of Physical Education College (BPED) for technical support like scoring and other aspects. A total of 70 technical support staff will be drafted for the duty. Archery Association of India (AAI) has been nominated its Technical Committee chairman Rupeshkar as a competition director for the Archery Championship.
Due to lack of archery stands and targets, the organising committee has decided that competition will be conducted in three plus two. Three archers will compete against each target after which two archers will compete. Compound, Indian, Recurve events will be conducted for Men and Women. Competitions will be conducted in 30 meters, 50 and 70 meters range in Individual, team and mixed catogary.
Speaking on the occasion Krishna University Vice-chancellor Prof S Rama Krishna Rao said that all the arrangements were completed for the Archery championship. APAA secretary Cherukuri Satyanarayana said that archery association has been giving all its support for the Inter University tournament.
Technical support teams have been working under the guidance of Archery Association of India (AAI) technical committee chairman Rupeshkar and Andhra Pradesh coach L Chandrasekhar, he added. Krishna University Sports Board secretary Dr N Srinivasa Rao is optimistic that Krishna archers would perform very well and win medals.
