Kakinada: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa, said that the Telugu Desam Government was committed to all-round development of the poor in the state, here on Sunday.

He participated in the APTA (American Progressive Telugu Association) Student Education Programme at the Kapu Kalyana Mandapam here. Speaking on the occasion, Rajappa expressed his happiness over the generous deeds of APTA and informed that the APTA was established in 2008 by the NRI Telugu people in the USA.

He further said that the APTA had been rendering its financial help for education and for medical necessities of the poor in the state. Rajappa praised the services of APTA President Gopal Gudapati, Public Relation Chairman Venkat Chavvakula and their representatives. He further informed that for the year 2017, the APTA had decided to distribute scholarships to 1,000 meritorious students in AP worth Rs 1.5 crore on the occasion of its 10th inception year.

He also said that the APTA distributed 400 scholarships worth Rs 60 lakh to the students of East and West Godavari districts and further informed that on the December 17, about 600 students would be given scholarships at Nova College in Vijayawada.

Rajappa welcomed the APTA organisation to come forward and provide free meal distribution at the Kalyana Mandapams which are going to be built by Kapu, BC and SC corporations in the state.

Special guests MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, MLC Chikkala Rama Chandra Rao and Mayor Pavani also spoke at the scholarship distribution event and praised the APTA’s events. In this regard APTA chairperson Dasari Madhu, Education chairperson Yenumula Innayya explained the APTA’s future goals and plans.

VUDA Director Gattu Satyanarayana, APTA board directors Sunkara Rajesh, Subrahmanyam, Satyanarayana, Rajesh, Priyanka and coordinators Dhulipudi Venkataraman (Bobby) and others participated in the event.
