The EGARS members use shortwave radio sets to render its Ham Radio services in the beach festival. Speaking about their services at the beach festival, the EAGARS secretary, Dharma Teja informed ‘The Hans India’ that their Radio Society has voluntarily come forward to take part in the festival.

He further said that a team of nine members use the wireless radio sets. “It is an emergency service that can be used during tsunamis, floods and other emergency situations where the mobile signals would not work.

They link their communication systems to the Police, Revenue, Tourism and Municipality departments and all the wireless sets are connected to the Control Room at Peddapuram, known as the repeater,” he added.

Ham Radio operators P Bala Satya Durga Prasad, J Adi Narayana Arora, Manga Tayaru and other members were at service.
