Be wary of web portal frauds

Kakinada: “All the customers who shop online must be vigilant as some online shopping portals and online shopping companies are encouraging frauds,” said noted advocate P Aruna.

She participated as a chief guest at the NSS Skill Development Camp held to create legal awareness to the NSS volunteers at the VSL Degree College here on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, she said that while shopping on the web portals, it was true that some of the goods are sold for lesser prices. She further informed that some online companies send defective goods to the customers. 

She also said that many online shopping portals send goods that hardly match with the ones displayed. Aruna also alleged that many companies imitate the famous brands with tell-tale signs like spelling the names differently.

 She advised the youth to verify particulars on warranty, manufacturing date, servicing centre details and the quality of the goods before placing an order from online stores. She urged the students not to fall into the trap of huge discounts offered by the online shopping portals.
