Eluru: The One-Town police have organised Kho-kho, a traditional game, for the students to mark the ongoing Sankranti festivities. The Additional SP, V Ratna inaugurated the game at Kasturba Municipal Corporation Girls High School on Friday. Speaking at the inaugural meeting, the Additional SP called upon people and urged them not to conduct cockfights.

Suggesting that the people conduct games like Kho-kho, Kabaddi, which are our traditional games during the Sankranti season, she pointed out that West Godavari, which stood in first place in literacy, aqua products and paddy production, also stood in first place for its penchant for holding cock-fights. “It is a shame on the part of the district people to conduct the cockfights that lead to gambling and other habitual games,” she said, condemning the tradition.

One-Town CI Adapa Naga Murali, Two-Town CI G Madhu Babu, One-Town SIs NR Kishorebabu, V Ramakoteswara Rao, school headmistress Sunita and others participated in the programme.
