Rajamahendravaram: Local MP Maganti Murali Mohan has appealed to the South Central Railway (SCR) general manager, Vinod Kumar Yadav, to resolve problems relating to railways in the Rajamahendravaram Parliamentary Constituency. He submitted a memorandum with 12 demands to the general manager here on Friday.

The memorandum includes demands such as the construction of three railway platforms in town railway station, an entry on east side of the station to cater to the needs of the people, laying of second track on arch bridge, new railway line between Kovvur and famous pilgrim centre Bhadrachalam, road over bridge at Nidadavolu, halt to Kakinada Nagarsol express and Seshadri express in Anaparthi railway station and repairs to road cum rail bridge.

The list also demands handing over Havelock Rail Bridge to state government to develop it as a tourist spot, halt to Janmabhoomi express at Nidadavolu and the introduction of new chair car between Rajamahendravaram and Secunderabad along with a new express train between Vijayawada and Varanasi via Rajamahendravaram and Visakhapatnam.
These demands are said to be long pending and required attention.

Rajamahendravaram was centrally located between Amaravathi and Visakhapatnam. Due to lack of enough
platforms, the trains halt for hours together. Meanwhile, the second track on arch bridge was also important, as the train traffic on Chennai-Kolkata line escalated.

Urban MLA, Dr Akula Satyanarayana and Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary asked the general manager to allot a parking place for the municipal corporation at subsidised fares. MLC Somu Virraju also submitted a memorandum to the general manager. MLC Adireddy Appa Rao and SCR officials were present at the meeting.
