SC/ST forum demands arrest of attackers
Kakinada: Seeking stringent action against Bhajrang Dal and RSS activists who attacked Dalits in Pune, the United SC and ST Forum activists staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday.
The Forum’s activists raised slogans against the government and demanded that the government immediately arrest the culprits. All the Dalit leaders and activists from all Indian States celebrated the 200th year of the Koregaon battle fought between the Mehars and Peshwas. After Dalits paying their tributes to the martyrs of the war, the Bajrang Dal and RSS activists attacked them on their way back.
The Forum’s leaders also informed that a person was killed and 17 others severely injured in the attack. They further alleged that the BJP government was not too happy with Jignesh Mevani’s win in the recently concluded Gujarat elections. The forum further alleged that the Central government was responsible for the attacks on Dalits at Pune and wanted an immediate ban on the RSS, Shiv Sena and Bajrang Dal. Forum President Gudala Krishna, Secretary T Nooka Raju, D Venkat and others participated in the protest. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
