Engage in govt programmes, says Kona
Guntur: District Collector and Guntur Municipal Corporation Special Officer, Kona Sasidhar has said that they organised the 5K run to involve people in the ongoing Janmabhoomi – Maa Vooru programme.
He addressed a meeting held in connection with the inauguration of 5K Run as a part of Janmabhoomi- Maa Vooru programme at NTR Municipal Corporation Stadium in Guntur city on Sunday. He said that there was a need for physical activity for sound health and added that they had included running in the programme.
He urged people to participate in the programme. He said that development should be driven by the requirements of the people and stressed the need for involvement of people in the development process. He conducted the Janmabhoomi –Maa Vooru programme for four days and urged the people make it a success.
He said that the government was developing stadia not only in cities and towns but also in the villages. He reminded that the government was conducting Happy Sunday programmes and urged people to participate in them.
The 5K Run, which started at the NTR Municipal Corporation Stadium, reached the Police Parade Grounds in the city.
GMC Commissioner Challa Anuradha, MLC AS Rama Krishna and MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy were among those participated in the programme.
