‘Gobbemmalu, Bhogi Mantalu part of tradition’
Achanta: Sanaboyina Gopalakrishna, Agriculture Marketing Committee chairman, Penugonda and Mandal Parishad president Meka Padma Kumari said that the Gobbemmalu and Bhogi Mantalu are Pongal traditions for every Telugu family to celebrate. The duo inaugurated Sankranthi Sambaralu in Bhavya Bharati Vidya Niketan in Achanta village of West Godavari district on Thursday.
They blessed the schoolchildren, who enthusiastically participated in the Sambaralu. They extended wishes in advance to all for Pongal. The students danced to Sankranti songs after placing the Gobbemma and cooked Payasam after which they lit the bonfire.
Rangoli competitions were held and prizes were given to the winners. SI AGS Murthy appreciated the participants. ZPTC member Bandi Ramarao, Achanta Sarpanch Beera Tirupatamma, School Correspondent Kolisetty Veera Venkata Tatarao, Mamuduri Subrahmanyacharyulu, Bolilsetty Suryanarayana, Peddinti Sitaramacharyulu, Balla Naveen, Edida Ramakrishnacharyulu participated in the programme.
