Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham (APRS) took strong exception to the ‘unlawful comments’ made by Indian Agriculturist, Subhash Palekar at the Press Club here on Thursday.

Speaking to the gathering, the APRS state secretary, P Peddi Reddy said that the APRS strongly condemned the comments of Subhash Palekar. “All the scientists, officials and farmers were called and insulted by Palekar who said that science was waste and Zero Budget Natural Farming was best and all the agricultural universities should be shut down,” he quoted.

Reddy said that the government spent public money to conduct meetings with Subhash Palekar earlier at Kakinada, Tirupathi and now in Amaravati. He said Zero Budget Natural Farming is a well-known traditional farming technique, and that there was no need for Palekar to educate farmers on those agricultural practices.

He said that APRS strongly criticises Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging such people at the present juncture. The APRS demanded that the government take back 100 acres of land allotted to Palekar by the government and stop posting him as government advisor for agriculture. The APRS president, P Ramchandraiah, secretary P Jamalaiah and others were present.
