Pat for eye hospital for serving the poor

Kakinada: JNTU-K Rector Purnanandam has said Kiran Eye Hospital here is not a common eye hospital but a science archive and a knowledge hub in eye care. He participated as chief guest at Kiran Eye Hospital silver jubilee ceremony here on Friday.

After lighting the lamp to mark the inaugural of the ceremony, Purnanandam said that the hospital was serving the poor for the past 25 years. He informed that this hospital conducted 2.5 lakh eye surgeries to the public. Out of these surgeries, 60 percent of the surgeries were conducted to the poor in the district. He appreciated the philanthropic work of the hospital. “It is a great thing to maintain such standards besides establishing a state-of-the-art eye care for the poor in the district,” the rector said.

He also said that Kiran Hospital started a Genetic Research Centre which is the first of its kind in the district. Deputy Director of I and PR M Francis and Kiran Eye Hospital Chief Sankurathri Chandra Sekhar also spoke in the meeting.
