Rise in tourists visiting cultural capital of State

Rajamahendravaram: The Cultural Capital of the State is becoming a hub of medical, education, tourism, business and hospitality sectors. The number of people who have been visiting the city of grand culture is on the rise. There is a need for more hotels in the city to cater to their needs.

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, La Hospin Hotel guest relations manager Padma Rani Chikkala said that at present there were as many as 800 rooms in various hotels in the city with 70 percent of occupation ratio on ordinary days. “The reason for the increase of visitors as well as tourists is an increase in oil and gas explorations, campus recruitments by various IT, pharma and other Companies.

Air traffic has also increased because of increased flight services to Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. Floriculture, fabrics and handloom products etc also contribute for increased visitors. Tourists have been going to picturesque Papikondalu and other tourist spots in the district,” he added.

As the city is centrally located between state capital Amaravathi and port city Visakhapatnam, many are opting to stay in the city until completion of their work. Moreover, the city is well connected with rail, road and air transportation to various parts of the country.

Hospitality sector is also growing in the city and there is a scope for vast expansion of this sector. Some stays for a short period and some others stay until completion of their work. Many goes on their work in the morning to various parts of the district and returns to the city in the evening which is convenient for them.  Women are showing interest to work in the field, mainly in reception and housekeeping wings.

In La Hospin Hotel, some customers have been asking for packages relating to their stay in the hotel. Padma Rani further added that she had been working in La Hospin Hotel for nine years and observing the development of hospitality sector in the city.
