APVCE relay fast enters third day
Kakinada: The relay hunger strike by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Andhra Pradesh Vidyut Contract Employees (APVCE) at Collectorate here with a demand to abolish contract system, reached the third day on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the JAC leaders and members demanded that the government immediately abolish the contract system under implementation in Transco, Genco and Discom of the electricity department.
They stated that before coming to power, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu included their demands in the TDP manifesto on page 30. They alleged that the CM had cheated them and ignored the election promises previously made.
They said that they were observing relay hunger strike since January 20 and would continue up to January 25. They also said that the electricity department should give salaries to them directly instead of using the method of outsourcing agencies.
They informed that if the government did not respond to their demands, they would go on an indefinite strike from January 27. The JAC convener Ravi Kumar and members, V Prem Kumar, Oleti Nagaraju, P Sivayya, P Karun, K Ramesh took part in the relay hunger strike along with many others.
