DRDO officials meet young scientists at SRKR

Bhimavaram: Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Director of Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (DRDO, New Delhi) called upon the young scientists to identify the needs of the society and give priority to meet them.

He inaugurated a two-day international conference on ‘Applied Science and Technology’ organised by the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) at SRKR Engineering College here on Wednesday. The convener of the conference, Dr Venu Reddy presided over the inaugural session.

Addressing the meet, Dr Singh said that there was no paucity of funds for the research. “India, which is an agriculture nation, now stands as a role model to the world as a technology centre,” he added.

Dr Rajendra Singh, Associate Director, Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety, DRDO, emphasised to take up extensive researches on the utilisation of water for the needs of industrial and construction sectors. He pointed out that there was a threat to water resources and suggested for release of research papers of engineering colleges and IITs in the form of books through Science Development Centre (SDC).

Senior professor of Andhra University, Dr YLN Murthy said that a new molecule was invented recently by young scientists under his guidance which could be used during fire accidents without damaging the ozone layer. “The research has got the patent of DRDO and this was the first of its kind,” he stated. He suggested more research on the pollution control. 

Andhra University Engineering College principal Dr PS Awadhani, SRKR Engineering College principal Dr G Pardhasaradhi Varma, Dr Prathap Kollu of Cambridge University (London), Republic of Korea Chungum University researcher Dr Venkat Pammi, the college vice-principal Dr KVSN Raju, R and D Dean Dr PA Ramakrishnamraju, Dr Ganesh took part in the conference. Earlier, the dignitaries visited the WET Centre and the Kolleru Research Centre in the college.
