Vote is weapon in people’s hands: Sub-Collector
Rajamahendravaram: Rallies and meetings marked the celebration of National Voters Day with the participation of hundreds of students in the rally, which commenced from Y Junction and concluded at Government College.
Later, addressing the gathering here on Thurday, Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma said that vote was a weapon in the hands of people. “The weapon should be used to create a good society by electing honest leaders. Everyone should register their names in the voters list, which is right given by our Constitution,” he said. The official opined that it was the responsibility of the citizens to exercise their franchise properly without fear or favour in the elections.
He underlined the need to bring awareness among the student fraternity about the importance of vote and its utilisation and the school managements also organise meetings in this regard. “One vote is enough to do miracles in the elections,” he added.
Urban Superintendent of Police B Raja Kumari said Dr BR Ambedkar clearly described about the value of vote, its power as well as how to exercise it during the elections. Government College principal Dr Rapaka David Kumar and others were present at the meeting.
