Festive fervour marks R-Day
Eluru /Bhimavaram: The people from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in the Republic Day celebrations in various parts of West Godavari district on Friday. Flag hoisting, meetings and cultural programmes have been conducted in various government and private institutions.
In Eluru, District Collector K Bhaskar garlanded the statue of ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi at the Collectorate compound in the morning. He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and hoisted the national flag in the Collectorate. The Joint Collector, P Koteswara Rao and other officials also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and participated in the Republic Day celebrations at the venue.
In the District Public Relations Office, the Assistant Director of I and PR, V Bhaskara Narasimham hoisted the flag. Divisional PRO RVS Ramachandra Rao, APROs Durga Prasad, Sai Baba, photographers Puli Vinayaka Babu, Babu Rao, Saibaba, senior assistant Satyanarayana Raju and others participated in the programme.
In Narsapuram town, Sub-Collector Sumit Kumar Gandhi hoisted the national flag at his office and addressed the gathering. He took the guard of honour from the police. In Bhimavaram, the students enthusiastically participated in the flag hoisting programme at Vishnu School run by Padmabhushan Dr BV Raju Foundation and Educational Institutions.
Vishnu Dental College principal Dr Suresh Sajjak hoisted the Tricolour. School principal R Satya Murthy and others participated in the programme. The school students performed cultural programmes on the occasion.
