GGH sanitation workers unpaid, stage dharna
Kakinada: Seeking release of the five-month salary arrears, sanitation workers in the Government General Hospital staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday.
They raised slogans against the government and displayed cloth banners pertaining to their demands. Speaking on this occasion, the GGH Contract Workers Union leaders said that there were 217 contract sanitation workers in the GGH. “The old contract ended on 31st of July 2017 with ASPL.
The Superintendent informed that a new agency (A1) made a contract with the DME,” they alleged. The sanitation union leaders informed that five months have passed but they did not receive salaries. They demanded that the government pay their salaries as per the GO 151 and further asked to implement the labour acts for their welfare.
The GGH Contract Workers Union president, Ch Vijaya Kumar, leaders J Seshu, R Ramesh, J Lakshmi Priya and others participated in the protest.
