Tata Trust to launch telemedicine centres today

Vijayawada: Tata Trusts will establish about 20 Telemedicine Health Centres in Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency here on Monday.

Tata Trusts South Head, R Pavitra Kumar spoke to media persons at the Vijayawada office on Sunday. He informed that in a major initiative by Tata Trusts in Andhra Pradesh, ‘Swastha Kutumbam’, a universal health coverage model, was designed for 265 grama phanchayats of the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency. “Initially 20 Telemedicine centres will be established and about 10 lakh people and around 2.5 lakh families would have access and availability of primary health care services,” he stated.

“The project would be inaugurated by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu,” he added. Tata Trusts AP Operations Head R Rajendra Babu said that each Telemedicine centre would have a pharmacist and GNM. ‘Swastha Kutumbam’ has created a 265 community health mobilisers, Swastha Kutumbam Insurance Facilitators (SKIF) and with their network primary health care and community and speciality health care services would be provided.
