4 lakh kids administered polio drops

Eluru: The Pulse Polio programme has been conducted in several parts of West Godavari district on Sunday. Ministers, MLAs and District Collector administered the polio drops to the children below five years of age in these centres. The Medical and Health Department has made elaborate arrangements to administer polio drops to the children and opened centres at various places for this purpose.

District Collector Katamneni Bhaskar, Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) administered polio drops to children at the Ashokavardhini Municipal Corporation School in Ashok Nagar. The Collector, speaking at the programme, said that as many as 3,192 vaccination centres had been opened to administer the polio drops to four lakh children in the district. 

“A total 12,768 employees are appointed in all these centres. The medical and paramedical staff would conduct a household survey to administer the polio drops to the leftover children in the district on Monday and Tuesday,” he informed. MLC Ramu Surya Rao, RDO G Chakradhara Rao, DMHO Dr B Subrahmanyeswari, Additional DMHO G Ratna Kumari, Dr M Mohan Rao, District Immunisation officer D Mohan Krishna participated in the programme.
