YSD conducts training on disaster management, first aid

Ongole: The training classes on disaster management and first aid by the Youth Services Department(YSD) and Indian Red Cross Society started at the QIS College of Engineering and Technology on Thursday, said the college secretary Nidamanuri Surya Kalyan Chakravarthy and president Nidamanuri Nageswara Rao. They said that the training programme would be held for three days to about 50 students who registered for it.

The Indian Red Cross Society Prakasam district unit ad hoc chairman Dr Gundavarapu Raghava said that the students should come forward to learn about the first aid procedures and participate voluntarily in situations like calamities. He said that the early response at those times can save a lot of people.

The college principal Dr Kilari Veeraswamy asked the NSS volunteers and students to learn about the first aid methods to save the people trapped in the disasters. Nageswara Rao said that the students must also have the knowledge of issues related to society and the solutions to fight them apart from the classroom knowledge.

The IRCS district branch officer, Abdul Kalam, resource person Lakshmananda, regional coordinator Ravi Kumar also participated in the programme while the NSS director of the college A Vasu Babu made the arrangements.
