Chicken shop seized for storing 60 kg of stale meat
Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Meat Development Corporation Chairman, along with the Kakinada Municipal Corporation officials, raided a chicken shop at the Military Road here on Friday.
On a tip-off about selling stale meat to the public, the MDC Chairman Prakash Naidu and health, sanitation and veterinary officials raided Sri Kanaka Durga Chicken Point and identified the 60 kilos of stale meat of chicken that was kept in the refrigerators.
The corporation officials were stunned after seeing the status of the chicken which was totally stale and in a decaying state and with fungus. On seeing the meat, Prakash Naidu expressed his anger at the shop owner.
He asked the corporation officials to immediately seize the shop. The officials also seized the chicken. They fined the shop owner with a penalty of Rs 50,000. Meat Development chairman Chandradandu Prakash Naidu, and the corporation officials participated in the raid.
