District-level sports selections conclude

Ongole: The district sports development officer announced that the selections for the district-level teams for various sports were concluded at Ongole and Chirala on Friday.

RK Yatiraj, the DSDO said that the selections for the football, volleyball, kabaddi, hockey and athletics were held at NextGen International School in Ongole while selections for badminton were held at DSA indoor stadium at Chirala on the last day of three day selection camp.

He said that battery test and skill test were conducted for the candidates for selection into the district level teams. He announced that about 600 boys and girls from various places in the district participated in the selections on Friday.

The selected candidates would be sent to the state level selections, the DSDO added. Those who were qualified for the state level team, would be sent for special training at the six sports academies in the state, at Visakhapatnam, Anantapuram, Narasaraopet, Gudivada, Nellore and Kakinada, he added.
