Women bikers arrive in city

Vijayawada: Four women bike riders who were on expedition to seven eastern countries reached Vijayawada on Sunday evening.  

Speaking to ‘The Hans India’, ASD Shanthi, Shilpa Balakrishnan, Jai Bharati and Piya Bahadur said that bike riding was their hobby. And everyone had more than five years of bike riding experience and they had already taken part in many expeditions in the past.

Shanthi said that this expedition was the first of its kind traveling to eastern countries. She said that the main motto behind this expedition was to promote Telangana Tourism which was supported by Indian Tourism and the Government of Telangana.

She explained that they would travel 17,000 kilometers en route Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Bangladesh in 50 days. The expedition kick started on Sunday morning from Telangana Secretariat. The bikers would be followed by eight crew members of Telangana Tourism, she added.  

All arrangements were made for the travel and while traveling in the eastern countries, the External Affairs Ministry would spoke to their counterparts in the respective countries for the expedition. They would start their ride on Monday morning, she added.
