Deworming Day today

Kakinada: As mandated by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the District Medical and Health Officer issued a circular regarding observance of the Deworming Day in all the government schools, colleges and in Anganwadi centres in the district.

In a press release here on Saturday, the DM and HO Chenchayya said that the Albendazole tablets would be given to all those in the age group of one to 19 years. He ordered the medical staff to administer the deworming tablets effectively and make sure that no child is left away from taking the albendazole tablets. 

He further ordered the teachers of all the government schools that they should open their schools until 6pm on Monday for smooth execution of the programme. DM and HO Chenchayya further said that a mop-up day would be administered on 16thof February for the children who were absent on Monday. 

He further said that the parents and teachers should monitor them while they play in the outside and while taking the lunch. He informed that every child should wash his hands while taking lunch and while in play they should wear proper chappal or shoes and not with barefoot. The DM and HO released a poster in Telugu to create awareness on Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH).
