Neurologist in the GGH Gajula Ramakrishna said, “First  we take CT Scan. Then we will check the National Institute of Health  Stroke (NIHS) Score. We will start treatment to the patient. If NIHS score is 4-25 points, we will give thrombolytic therapy treatment to the patient. If the patient suffering from high BP and diabetes, we  will  control it. Thrombolytics will dissolve major blood clots quickly and helps to restart blood flow to the heart and prevent damage to the heart  and  brain. The neurologists cannot give Thrombolytic Therapy to the patient, if he or she suffers from hemorrhage. If the patient will come to the GGH in golden hours, we will  give treatment to them. Stroke unit in the GGH is working 24X7. Due to lack of awareness, the patients are not coming to the GGH within four hours.

If the patient will come to the hospital, in golden hours, the patient will recover soon. We have treated eight patients in  the stroke unit. Out of which, six patients recovered. Six in every thousand will  get paralysis  stroke. We have given free  treatment to a patient V Satyanarayana. If the same treatment is given in the private hospital, they will charge at least Rs 5 lakh.”
