Kakinada: Seeking implementation of labour laws, the LPG cylinder delivery workers union leaders and members staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Monday.

The Gas Delivery Workers Union district secretary, J Venkateswarlu, demanded that the Sri Agency (HP Gas agency) withdraw decision for removal of 14 gas delivery workers. He alleged that the management of Sri Agency was not implementing any laws related to the labourers in their agency. He informed that they had formed a union on February 3 and sent a notice of wage contract to the management. He also said that after receiving the wage contract notice, the management removed 14 gas delivery workers from employment.

Venkateswarlu further alleged that the labour related laws were in force in the remaining six gas agencies in the city except in the Sri Agency. The union workers demanded that the labour department officials inspect Sri Agency and other agencies in the district to know the facts. They also wanted implementation of PF, ESI and other benefits that apply to them legally. Union city president M Anjaneyulu and others participated. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Collector.
