Vijayawada: Law students should learn about scientific temper, said Babu Gogineni, noted humanist and rationalist while addressing the students of Siddhartha Law College here on Monday.

Referring to the Article 51A (h) of the Constitution which promotes development of scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform, Babu said that the makers of our Constitution were ahead of times in including this Article.

Too many superstition are steeped deeply in society, he deplored asking the students to question everything without compromise. “People are carried away by blind beliefs like numerology, Drishti Raksha Kavacham, homoeopathy and others,” he added.

He appealed to the youth to grow from the narrow community and communal lines and become good humans. Expressing concern over growing casteism in society, Babu referred to a recent video eulogising a particular caste, which went viral on YouTube.

Earlier, Dr Ch Divakar Babu, principal of Siddhartha Law College presiding over the meeting, welcomed the chief guest. Members of Progressive Forum Zamindar and Akkineni Chandra Rao also participated.
