Students urge govt to release funds for fee payment
Guntur: Students under the aegis of All India Students Federation on Thursday demanded that the government release Rs 2,158 crore to pay fee reimbursement and scholarships.
They said that though academic year was coming to close, the students of the BC, SC, ST and Minorities were still waiting for scholarships and fe reimbursement. AISF district president Maddineni Kiran Babu said that though it was responsibility of the government to extend helping hand to the students of backward communities, the government had failed to fulfil its duties.
He said that managements of the private colleges were forcing the students to pay fee immediately, because the colleges did not receive any fee reimbursement. He said that the managements made it clear that they would not issue hall-tickets, unless the fee dues were paid. He urged the government to pay scholarships and fee reimbursement to the students and release the funds immediately. Later, he submitted a memorandum to the Social Welfare department officials to this effect. AISF district leaders Rajesh, Siva were among those participated.
