Verse play Bharatavarsham staged
Vijayawada: The Maheswari Prasad Comedy Club, the Young Theatre Organisation and RR Creations jointly organised a verse play ‘Bharatavarsham’ at Veledandla Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam Hall on Thursday evening. The play was written and directed by Anandagiri and presented by Sri Amma Atrs, Vijayawada.
Instead of adopting a popular storyline for stage to attract the audience, the writer chose the subject from epic ‘Bhagavatam’ to popularise the name of “Bharatvarsha”. The director utilised the folk art “Burrakatha” for the continuity of the story. But the scenes are very short and not sustained.
The main characters were played by N Narasimharao (Bharata), G Venkateswara Rao (Rishabha) and O Bosubabu (Nabhi Raju). The other characters were played by Ramayogi, K Apparao, SS Varma, R Anantakrishna, V Sasidhar, BKNS Prasad, DRK Murthy, G Krishna, Anthoni, VV Nagaraju, J Ramakrishna, YGMG Krishna, Lakshmi, M Lakshmi, Y Bhavani, Vijaya, O Padmavathi R Rajeswarai, Sushmitha and many others.
Technical support was rendered by Paramesh, Saradhi, Ganesh (make up) R Vasudeva Rao (sets), M Vasudeva Murthy, Tirupati Rao and Paramesh (music), D Chandrasekhar (vocal), R Mohana Krishan (lighting).
Before commencing the drama, a meeting was organised and Sukhamanchi Koteswara Rao was presided over the meeting. Gummadi Gopalakrishna, Chairman, AP Nataka Academy, Karnati Lakshminarasaiah and HVRS Prasad participated as guests and expressed that the drama should be encouraged by the government.
