Plea to establish film industry in Amaravati

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Short Film Association (APSFA) demanded that the state government establish film industry at the upcoming capital Amaravati. In this regard a meeting was held at press club here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, APSFA general secretary Ramba Prasad said film industries were established at the state capital in various states in India. By establishing the film industry at the new capital Amaravati, it would benefit thousands of talented upcoming poets, artistes, theatre artists and photographers. After bifurcation of state, many artists and technicians had relocated to the capital cities Vijayawada and Guntur. By establishing film industry at the capital, television and short film sector would be benefited, he added.

He said film industry was suggested to establish at the capital city Amaravati as the locations around the upcoming capital were ideal for shooting.

APSFA president Pilli Prasad said celebrities, writers, actors and theatre artistes would take a tour of the state to gather support and willingness of film fraternity to establish film industry at Amaravati. He said most of the revenue generated by film industry was going to other states in the form of taxes as there was no film industry in AP. AP had many artistes, talented actors and theatre personalities, he added. APSFA Guntur president Ramesh, vice-presidents Vamshi Mohan, Parvez, Varma, Sunitha and others were present.
