Centre denying SCS benefits to State: YSRCP
Kakinada: The YSR Congress Party leaders, activists and followers protested against the Central government for failure to sanction SCS (Special Category Status) to Andhra Pradesh State in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday.
The YSRCP leaders displayed cloth banners consisting the demands of the party. YSRCP district president and former MLA Kurasala Kannababu, former MLA Dwarampudi Chandra Sekhar Reddy, MLC Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and other leaders protested the attitude of the Centre towards AP. They said that because of the call given by their party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, they were protesting at all the Collector’s offices in AP.
The party leaders demanded that the Central government immediately implement the promises made to the AP state during bifurcation and mentioned in the AP State Re-Organization Act. They also wanted Duggrajapatnam Port, Steel Plant at Kadapa, AIIMS and Visakhapatnam Railway Zone to AP. They stated that if the Centre declares SCS to AP, the subsidies and exemptions would be beneficial for the Industrialists so that they can establish new Industries in AP.
They urged the Central government to declare the SCS to AP and sanction all the funds that a SCS state gets as a share as per the allotment in the budget. YSRCP leaders Mootha Sasidhar, former minister KV CH Mohan Rao, Sangisetti Ashok and other leaders from all the 19 constituencies in the district participated in the protest.
