Members of bar associations boycott courts
Rajamahendravaram: About 3,500 members of 15 Bar Associations in East Godavari district boycotted the courts on Thursday, demanding that the government fill up vacant judicial officer posts from magistrate court to the district court immediately.
Later, the Rajamahendravaram Bar Association president and District Bar Federation member Mupalla Subba Rao said that from years together the government was not filling the posts of judicial officers and as a result, many cases had been accumulating in the courts.
He demanded that the government abolish CPC Section 41-A immediately as the people were being harassed by police in the police stations. The government should cancel the powers of police under this Section, which actually belongs to courts. As per Law Commission's recommendations, issuing of bail by police also be cancelled immediately, he added.
