Electricity contract workers stir continues

 Bhimavaram: The strike by electrical contract workers entered 11th day on Friday, demanding that the Government solve their long-pending problems immediately. As part of the strike, the contract workers started relay hunger strike which was also entered the 11th day in Bhimavaram town.

The CITU district leader, BV Varma inaugurated the relay hunger strike of the workers along with Pattana Pedala Samkshema Sangham leader M Vaikuntha Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Varma alleged that the State Government had neglected the strike of electrical contract workers, even though it had entered 11th day on Friday. He criticised that the Government had concentrated on the enhancement of wages to MLAs and Ministers by neglecting the working class and the daily workers in the state. He alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was acting like a dictator. The government had not implemented the Supreme Court order on equal salary for the equal work.

He requested the Supreme Court to prosecute the State Government on contempt of Court as the Government failed to implement the Court’s directions. He demanded that the Government pay Rs 18,000 as minimum wage to the contract workers. The Electrical Workers United Forum leaders, Srinivas, D Srinivasarao, Barre Ramu, Subba Raju, Ravi Kumar and Mahesh led the relay fast.
