Mega cycle rally for environment protection held

Kakinada: The Andhra Pradesh Special Protection Force (APSPF) Director General Madireddi Prathap has said cycling is an environment-friendly mode of transport and it is high time to create awareness among people on protection of environment through cycling.

He participated as chief guest of a mega cycle rally from Kakinada to Draksharama for creating awareness on protection on the environment on Friday. Speaking on this occasion, Prathap said that cycling was a good exercise and everybody should inculcate habit of physical exercises for a better society.

The cycle rally started from Ammanna Ghati Centre from Kakinada and reached Draksharamam. Nearly 150 cyclists from Rotary Blood Bank, Godavari Cycling Club and students participated in the marathon cycling event. Later, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) staff performed the Gemini Power Boat exercises near the Anchorage Port.

In this connection, Prathap informed that they had successfully trained six batches at Kakinada SPF Centre and they were training the seventh batch at present. Port Officer Dharmasasta also spoke at the event. Commandant DN Basha, DSP Sudhakara Rao, Inspectors YV Kesava Ram, V Ramu and others participated.
