Awareness drive held on eye donation

Vijayawada: In a unique show, five blind students of Zion Blind Home participated in a fashion walk along with other models. As part of International Women’s Day celebration and to create awareness among people on eye donation, Karuna Eye Bank organised the unique fashion walk at Samana Institute of Fashion Technology here on Wednesday.

The Karuna Eye Bank founder, Dara Karunasri said the unique fashion walk was organised to create awareness and the need of eye donation. In the fashion walk, the blind students walked the ramp with the support of models. The five blind students-- N Harish, K Krishna, K Satya babu, M Nagaraju and K Bala Raju of Zion Blind Home-- participated in the fashion walk with the support of two models each.  

The models walked the ramp with blind student displaying placards ‘Donate Eyes’. Sahana College models walked the ramp eyes blindfolded with the support of blind students. This was done to make the people aware how difficult it would be for a blind to walk. M Nagaraju, a blind student said that he was thrilled to participate in the unique fashion walk which was the first time in his life.

Samana Institute models expressed their happiness to be a part of this unique fashion walk. The organisers felicitated senior citizen S Sarada Devi, Appa Narasamma and A Veera Narayanamma.
