CPI flays Centre over SCS
Guntur: CPI leaders protested at Sanakar Vilas Centre here on Wednesday, demanding that the Centre accord Special Category Status to AP.
Addressing the gathering, the CPI district secretary, J Ajay Kumar demanded that the Centre release sufficient funds for the construction of Polavaram Project, state capital Amaravati and steel plant at Kadapa. He urged the Centre to keep up promises mentioned in the state bifurcation act immediately and extend helping hand to the state.
He criticized that the BJP-led government was cheating the people of AP and did not allotted sufficient funds to keep up promises mentioned in the act. He criticised that though Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu hailed from AP, he was not taking initiative to grant SCS to AP. He urged the MPs from AP to mount pressure on the Centre for SCS because development was possible only with the SCS.
